While You Were Sleeping
|Shelby, Stoney Creek area – Time to Wake Up
The permit is for property located near 25 Mile and Dequindre in Shelby Township. The MDEQ permit lists private owner “Nino Homes”, listing a proposed well depth 5200 feet, with planned drilling into Shelby leased properties only.
However, this makes clear that well sites are moving closer to the borders of the cities of Rochester Hills and Rochester. With much of the focus thus far being on the West side of the proposed drilling area, clearly, it’s time for the east side to get involved and take action.
It may be summer in our cozy bedroom communities, but this is no time for sleeping, complacency and apathy.

The permit was issued on June 17. Ready, set, drill! See the flare, smell the odors like in Fowlerville. One well down how many more will get drilled before the people say to the local government “enough!”
You want to see a mess, polluted water, sick farm animals and sick people come on down to Pennsylvania.
City of Rochester residents should be up in arms! Your water comes from the water table that they will be drilling near if not through. It’s a disaster waiting to happen.
Make sure to vote for Joanna Vanraaphorst for State Rep in November. Mike Webber voted away your property rights and is “comfortable” with it.
So what can we do in Shelby Township to help fight this? Where do we start?
