Rochester Hills Mayor Brian Barnett and his supporting City Council are flaunting voter passed legislation and have signed a gas and oil lease for horizontal drilling at City park land. These actions show a reckless mayor and supporting city council that threatens its residents in the following ways:
1. Our property rights
2. Our property values
3. Our democracy – our voting power
4. The air we breathe
5. The food we grow in our gardens
6. Our ground water
7. The streets we drive on
8. Our personal health safety and welfare is threatened by our Rochester Hills local government

Don’t Drill In The Hills… THANKS!
We as a community should be proud of the efforts of this great group… please support them in their efforts. I personally will continue to stay out of the “fracking debate” I don’t know the science… that said our City Mayor Bryan K. Barnett, our City Attorney John D. Staran and City Council VIOLATED THE CITY CHARTER! And I congratulate this citizens group for calling them out on it! Also any elected official that will not come forward and apology for this decision and reverse this decision should be recalled from office… they do not represent the best interests of Rochester Hills.

I commend the group for its efforts. The drilling issue is not first and foremost on my mind, but the rights of citizens and property owners are. The Mayor and City Council like to appease citizens and portray nothing but good news.
The fact is that they do what they please and public comments go on deaf ears. They do however respond to political pressure. This is a good start, but follow through. If you want to reverse the cities course, go after their jobs. The Mayor is facing a challenging task of running a write in campaign for re-election next year. He can ill afford a well organized effort working against him. Make this about his re-election.
Go after a few council members with recall efforts, particularly Tisdale or others who have come out specifically on the wrong side of this issue. You need to fight the battle on multiple fronts.
